Dear Reader of the «Safe Surfer»,
The topic of my book is more current than ever, yet it was written in 2014, published three times. Now, however, the last edition is already several years old. Therefore, I recommend as an addition (or if a link recommended here is no longer up to date) to google yourself for additional, most current informaton. I also mention this in the book, almost always one finds very helpful stuff in the internet.
In doing so, you will always take into account the most current status on any issue.
With kind regards
Martin Hellweg
Author of the «Safe Surfer»

The book

The internet has made the world a more transparent, social and democratic place. At the same time, we have to learn how to best manage the innovations of the digital age. The revelations of Edward Snowden on the extent of global surveillance and espionage practices have triggered an important discussion on privacy and personal security. But for almost all of us, US intelligence is not the most immediate danger. Typical threats come from our personal environment — from people we once called friends or even loved ones, from adversaries in our private or professional life, from businesses whose services and products we use. Additionally, there are malicious hackers who regard us as their prey. They may consciously or randomly select internet users to play a game of cat and mouse with.

The book "Safe Surfer - Protecting Your Privacy in the Digital Age" uses real life examples to guide the reader through the various digital hazards that exist today. The reader shall become better in identifying potential threats and will be instructed on how to practice effective habits to protect their privacy. The book offers concrete advice and can be used as a workbook.
